Proper Games

Had you always wanted a career in the industry?

Not until after three years of hobby-time game level design, when, at 21, I decided the games industry is where I wanted to be.

How did you find out about Escape, and what was it like?

After much deliberation, I found what I was looking for. It's an exciting experience where, besides being absorbed by the lectures, you are surrounded by people who are there for the same reason. Students learn together and the support from the people at Escape is invaluable. It's the most powerful kick start possible.

What happened after the course?

I worked full-time on my portfolio and kept in touch with Escape. Six months later I was asked back to the there to work on a games outsourcing project. It was a blast! Escape's support continued indefinitely to much avail. Job situations can be bumpy, but it's worth it when you are working.

What are you doing now?

I'm an artist at Proper Games in Dundee and will continue to evolve in developing games wherever this profession takes me.

What advice would you give to prospective students?

If creating CG imagery is in your nature, keep the faith, take the ride!
