Frank Frazetta

Frank Frazetta, one of the first and most influential fantasy artists in the industry, died last week aged 82.

Whether you appreciated his work or not, you can’t deny that it influenced artists across all genres from comics, to games, to films.

He was widely considered the undisputed master of fantasy and sci-fi art. If you don’t know his name, I’m sure you’ll recognise his images depicting muscle-bound heroes fighting beasts with swords battle axes - many of which were used to illustrate iconic covers for books and albums.

He’s probably most famous for his illustrations on the covers of the Conan the Barbarian fantasy novels in the 60s – check out some of his work below.

Frank, you will be missed.

  • Hi everyone

Thanks to all who expressed their interest in this. We've had an overwhelming response and actually had over 500 applications within 24 hours!

We're just working through all these now and will be in touch with the successful applicants soon. If you were not able to get on this time we will be doing these again in the future so keep an eye out for announcements and of course there are still a few places on the full courses starting in October and January.

    All the best
    Paul
