Had you always wanted to work in the industry?

No, not really, I just got lucky. A friend of mine works at Escape so after talking to him I took a studio tour and decided to give it a go. It was a big undertaking but the whole set up there impressed me and really piqued my interest.

How did you find out about Escape, and what was it like?

As I said, a friend of mine works in Escape but it’s fair to say that I loved the time I spent there. I studied Shake and found everyone there really helpful and friendly. The tutors were great, both during the course and after I had finished.

What happened after the course?

After finishing I worked in the Escape Pods. If the training at Escape wasn’t enough, I was then paid to work there, and on projects for MPC what’s more. We were the very first group in the Escape Pods but it worked out brilliantly, rotoscoping, and then cleaning up projects like ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and ‘X Men 3’. MPC then took me on for a 3 month contract, and from there I moved on to Fluid and The Mill New York where I worked on an ad for the PS3 game 'Drake's Forune'.

What are you doing now?

I’m now working at Partizan, a production house in Soho. We handle all kinds of music video and commercial projects, and at the moment I’m working on an ad for a large soft drinks company that involves a lot of CG and live action integration.

What advice would you give prospective students?

If you want it then you’re going to have to work hard, be prepared for long hours, and learn from everyone, tutors and classmates. Also, you’ve got to pester people. In my experience people don’t mind talking about what they’re up to. In fact I think they enjoy someone taking such an interest.
