Top Down Animation - Work In Progress - Step 3

Step Three - Layout

Here's the third step in my Top Down Animation, Work in Progress series. The following video shows my Layout Pass. Which uses the animatic to set up the scene in Maya. This step is solely to set up the camera. All the props and character are added and a new camera is created. The character is roughly translated in the scene to indicate the range of motion which is expected, so that it can be checked that the camera has been set up to sufficiently stage the scene to include all the action. Once the camera is set it's a good idea to lock all the variables.
