Had you always wanted a career in this industry?

As a kid I wanted to draw for the comic 2000AD.  I've been through a lot of artistic disciplines from stone carving to product design to try and work out where my talents lay. I've really found my place in 3D and in particular ZBrush.

How did you find out about Escape Studios and what was it like?

I searched the internet for ZBrush courses in London because we had the Lion job starting and I wanted to be the one doing the work for it.  I'd seen the amazing ZBrush work produced on CGtalk and ZBrush central and I wanted to be creating that kind of work.

It was great; I was modelling and rigging test pieces at work in Isleworth then cycling to Shepherds Bush and learning how to really bring my work to life. When I started putting my training to use at work I started wowing my fellow 3d artist as well as the clients. Escape gave me the skills I needed to further my career in computer graphics.

What happened after the course?

I carried on building on the foundation Escape had given me.  My tutor went out of his way to help me through some baffling issues in time for a deadline that I had at work.

Although my job role hasn't changed the reality is that I'm first in line for the cooler more exciting jobs! Now I'm really looking forward to the Artistic Anatomy Masterclass with Scott Eaton next year.

What advice would you give to any prospective students?

If you want to be creative and make gnarly monsters I recommend the Escape's ZBrush Course. ZBrush has a steep learning curve but when you're over it you'll be limited only by your imagination.
